Five favorites

Ganked from Joel Mathis who swiped it from J. Freedom do Lac (what?!?!), here's my list of favorite songs in five different musical genres.

Note: This is my current list. This is bound to change, especially since it's a three-day weekend.
  • O Mio Babbino Caro – Puccini (Opera)
  • I Shall Be Released – Nina Simone (Soul)
  • Take FiveCharlie Parker Dave Brubeck (Jazz)
  • People Get Ready – Curtis Mayfield (R&B)
  • Rapper’s DelightSugarhill Gang (Old School Rap)

  1. I hate "that guy." I don't want to be "that guy." But I'm compelled to note that Take Five was composed by Paul Desmond after Charlie Parker's death. You most likely mean Dave Brubeck, not Charlie Parker. Great choices, by the way.

  2. Ah, good. I see there is someone paying attention. Of course I intentionally listed the wrong artist just to see if anyone would catch my "mistake".

But seriousely, I bow you you superior musical intellect, H.I.B.

  3. I also hate being "that guy".

But "O Mio Babbino Caro" was actually written by Paul Anka. It hit the Top 10 at Number 8 with Pat Boone's version in June of 1959.

Don't believe me? Go look it up on Wikpedia.

    Just give me 5 minutes.
