I'm seeing these signs at various places around the city lately.
Are they new? Are they just now popping up because of recent events?
Or have they always been there and I'm just now noticing them (because of recent events).

No. These are the signs one uses under Kansas law to exempt oneself or one's businesse from the concealed-carry law.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification JD.
ReplyDeleteHey, are you thinking what I'm thinking? This would make a great T-Shirt!
I hereby claim the copyright to this emblem being placed on any article of clothing.
They're different than the Missouri signs which carry a verbal prohibition, because, well, (obligatory Kansas snark from Mizzou grad alert)we in Missour can read.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
P.S. I've tried to find your e-mail address to ask permission to link to you on my sidebar, but can't locate it. No reciprocal link is necessary. Just because I enjoy reading your stuff, doesn't mean you have to enjoy mine.
I live in Missouri and I have seen our version posted since the day the law was drafted.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty funny that gun nuts spent so much effort getting concealed carry passed and it can be trumped by someone just posting a sign.
I think it would be funny if one of the glass skyscrapers in the financial district installed a sign that said, "FORGET DOG -- BEWARE OF OWNER!" in fancy, etch-look vinyl lettering on the front door.
ReplyDeleteUnrelated . . .
ReplyDeleteI like the new layout; in a couple of places I've seen hacks for the 3-column layout, and I've wondered, given all my blog's links and geegaws, if the 3-column might be helpful.
Have you lived with it long enough to know whether you like it?
Randall,
ReplyDelete"...we in Missour can read."
Sure, just can't spell. Ha, just bustin' your chops man. Thanks for the comment, and I would be honored to be listed on your blogroll.
And I think I've corrected by email address issue. It should show up now when you check my Blogger profile.
