KGB Carnival for August 6: Schweaty Balls edition

You wanna know what it's like in Kansas these days? It's hot, damn hot. So hot you can make a batch of Schweaty Balls with very little effort.

And the heat is oppressive, as many of the posts in this week's Kansas Guild of Bloggers carnival attest. Lots of heavy, brooding posts, but a few people are finding fun things to blog about.

Anyway, here's what I've come up with for this week.
Well, there you have it. It's too damn hot for more than this, though if you know of something I've missed, drop me an email or a comment and I'll be sure to get it added.

Be sure to keep your eye out for Kansas-related blog posts and submit them for next week's carnival. Until then, try to stay cool Kansas.

KGB Carnival for July 30: Time to get back in the game, Butchie

It's been a long time since I've hosted the weekly Kansas Guild of Bloggers Carnival.

John B. at Blog Meridian has been doing an outstanding job of keeping the fun train on track. But with John on hiatus for a couple of weeks, I thought I'd step back in and round up last week in Kansas blogging.

To paraphrase John from Cincinnati, "It's time to get back in the game, emaw."

So here it is, the KGB Carnival for July 20, 2007:
Well, that's all I had time for. I suspect I've missed a few that should have been included. Feel free to send me a link at the above-right email address and I'll include it in the list (or simply leave a comment with the link, whatevs).

Be sure to keep an eye out for interesting posts from, at or about Kansas for next week's carnival. Submit them to this link and tune in next week.

Celebrate

It's July 14, Bastille Day, and (at last check) there's an American leading the Tour de France -- again.

There are lots of other reasons to celebrate. It's not snowing in Kansas, college football kicks off in about a month and a half, I'm heading to the golf course this weekend and the beer is cold.

I can't think of a better way to celebrate all this good fortune that to throw a carnival. A blog carnival.

So join me, won't you? Head over to Blog Meridian and submit your favorite blog posts from this week. John B. hosted last week and did a helluva good job.

Be sure to get your submission in by Sunday afternoon, then check back Monday for the best blogs in the Sunflower State.

Is there anybody in there?

Hello? Echo? Is anybody left around here?

After a brief blogging hiatus for some vacation travel and work recovery, I wanted to click out a quick post to pimp the next edition of the Kansas Guild of Bloggers Carnival.

As you know, Joel Matthis at Cup O' Joel hosted last Monday's KGB Carnival, and in my humble opinion, he did one hell of a good job. Let's all give him a round of applause...

Everyone go over to Joe's and leave a comment. He deserves it.

Now, on to the next big announcement. Next week's edition of the carnival will be hosted by John B. at BlogMeridian. John is a regular contributor to the KGB, and one of the few KGB bloggers who isn't from Northeast Kansas.

So let's help John have a great carnival. Remember to submit your favorite blog posts from this week to John. You can use this handy submit link, which makes everything easier on the host.

Quick reminder

Hey bloggers...

Don't forget that Monday's Kansas Guild of Bloggers Carnival will be hosted by Joel Matthis at Cup O' Joel.

Make sure to submit your favorite blog post by Sunday afternoon. (Actually, as uptight as Joel is, I'm sure he would appreciate the submission even sooner... like, NOW!). Use the submit link, or email Joel or myself a link if you want to be included.

Also, help get the word out by including the submit link on your blog and letting your friends (or, in my case, friend) know about this thing of ours.

KGB Carnival for June 12

The bloggers are restless... Here's the KGB blog round up for the past week:
And the honorary Kansas Guild of Bloggers entry for this week is:
  • Next week's host of the KGB Carnival, Joel Matthis at Cup O' Joel, who is taking a YouTube sabbatical after overdosing on Hasselhoff (I told you to be careful with that stuff, Joel).
As usual, a great group of posts from a great group of people. I think it really showcases the diversity of our little blogmunity (okay, I'm just trying that word on for size. Maybe it doesn't quite fit). Thanks to everyone who participated.

As I mentioned, Joel Matthis at Cup O' Joel is hosting next week's KGB Carnival, so make sure to submit your favorite blog post early and often. You can use the submit link, or email Joel or myself.

The due date is Sunday at 3 p.m., but extra credit will be given to those who submit before Thursday.

Spread the word

Again, if you haven't done so yet, add your pin to the KGB Frappr map. Oh, and you can also add the KGB Blogroll to you blog by copying the code (posted here) and pasting it to your template. Help get the word out!

Thanks for reading. Have a great week!.

This just in...

Okay, I've got some breaking news about the Kansas Guild of Bloggers, but first, a quick reminder.

Don't forget to submit your favorite post(s) from this week for Monday's weekly KGB Carnival. Check back here on Monday to see with the KGB operatives are saying. The best part is that you don't need a Little Orphan Annie secret decoder ring, just a good Internet browser.

Remember, try to get your submission in by 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Okay, now the big announcements.

1) Joel from Cup O' Joel has graciously volunteered (heh, sucker!) to host the KGB Carnival on July 3. Yeah! Let's hear it for Joel. I know everyone will be eager to submit posts and help Joel have a great carnival. I'll have more details Monday.

B) Lyn Perry, the original director of the KGB, has graciously made the java script available for the KGB Blogroll. Just copy this code:
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"
src="http://rpc.blogrolling.com/display.php?r=f3e19607a77e31c568a00937de564448" > </script >
and paste it into your blog template. We'll all start linking to each other and increasing our blog rankings. It'll be like a big creepy cult.

Give me a holler or post a comment if you have any questions. Get your KGB submissions in, and check back Monday for the roundup.

Until then, ciao!

Also, if you interested in hosting the KGB Carnival, let me know and we'll set that up too. Like most things, this is a lot more fun when more people participate.

KGB Carnival for June 12

I'm back after a couple of days hiatus. Everyone should take a blogging break every once in a while, just to keep the addiction in check.

But I can't think of a better first hit than the weekly round up of Kansas blogs. So here we go, just remember that it's customary to pass the dutchie on the left hand side...
And this week's Honorary Kansas Blogger:

Present and accounted for

A few months ago I received a gmail from Pete Dulin, editor and publisher of local e-mag Present Magazine.

He wanted to interview littl ol' me for a feature he was working on for the June issue about local bloggers. I figured he was doing a best-of/worst-of thing and needed a worst of, so I did the interview.

Fast forward to today, I get another gmail letting me know the June issue has been published (you can download the PDF doc here).

Present is a really cool publication. Pete and his writers do a great job covering the local scene, and since I learned about it I've developed a habit of printing it out and taking it to the bathroom at work for a few hours... but I digress.

The point is, the June edition has several entertaining interviews of local bloggers along with a nice column about the sociological place of blogs within the greater human condition.

And I was surprised to see Three O'Clock in the Morning listed among some really great blogs like Death's Door, Tony's Kansas City and NctrnlinKC.

So do yourself a favor. Go download the magazine and read how much of a jackass I made of myself.

PS- JD, don't get too bent out of shape on this one, it was a Kansas City article, so you really don't qualify. Feel free to submit a post to the KGB carnival, tho.

This thing's got legs

The Kansas Guild of Bloggers is really starting to pick up steam. Thanks to everyone for submitting posts and helping spread the word.

I also want to welcome two Kansas bloggers who have recently "joined" the group: Big Simon in Independence and Melissa in Hayes.

Now on to business. Choose your favorite Kansas-related post from the past week and submit for this week's KGB Carnival. I'll post the submissions (and some posts that I come across on my own) on Monday, June 5.

And don't forget to mention this call for entries on your blog and include the submit link.

Thanks. Check back Monday for the roundup.

West Side represent, yo

Quick, tie a string around your index finger.

This string is there to remind you to submit a blog post for the Kansas Guild of Bloggers Carnival that will be posted on Monday, May 29.

Here are a few quick guidelines:
  • Participating bloggers should be either living in Kansas or should at some time have lived in Kansas.
  • Or, participating bloggers should have at some point traveled through, around, or over Kansas.
  • Or, participating bloggers should have something to say that would be relevant to people living in Kansas.
That should about cover everyone.

One thing I would like to see more of is bloggers from western Kansas. Recent KGB carnivals have been pretty east-Kansas heavy, so if you know anyone from the West Side, tell them they better represent, yo.

And it always helps when you mention this call for entries on your blog. Feel free to include the submit link as well.

Thanks. Check back Monday for the roundup.
