YouTube Tuesday: Chad Vader

Chad Vader is one of the rising stars of YouTube. You may have heard of his older brother, Darth, but Chad has a story of his own.

In Episode 2: Day Shift Manager, Chad struggles to find love while keeping his choice gig as day manager at a supermarket...

YouTube Tuesday: Vader + MST3K = Crazy hilarious

I've commented about RiffTrax, the video companions produced by the writers from MST3k. And I've mentioned Chad Vader in previous YouTube Tuesday features.

Now, the two great tastes taste great together.

Here's the background:

And here's a teaser of the result:

YouTube Tuesday: Squatters

Squatters is a new web video series I've been following.

As I've said before, I like these projects in the vein of God Inc., and Chad Vader. I like seeing what some really creative people can do without the oppressive yoke of traditional Hollywood management to hold them down.

So the concept in Squatters is that two Manhattanites lose their apartment due to a rent increase and are too proud to move to an outer borough. They make a bet, with certain provisos, to see who can last the longest without paying rent.

All the episodes are pretty good, with surprisingly high production values. Episode 7 even features a sexy Kansas City Royals fan.

YouTube Tuesday: God, Inc.

This is probably the best YouTube serial since Chad Vader. Great writing, competent acting (for YouTube anyway) and an interesting concept. There are currently six "webisodes" available. Here's the pilot...

YouTube Tuesday: "You spell 'honour' like a Brit"

It was painfully obvious over the weekend that all of the good TV shows were on hiatus. But luckily, we have the emerging art of short-form Internet 'webisode' serials to scratch out pop culture itch.

Previously, we've featured the Chad Vader series, and God, Inc. among others.

One of my favorite new series is Tiny Plaid Ninjas. In the first of the three episodes, two mortal enemies must work together to defeat a common foe.

YouTube Tuesday: TAG and Axe my back!

Part of the power of short-form online video, for better or worse, is to show how little the American online public needs the teevee networks.

Network execs can continue to put out more cheap un-reality shows, and writers can can continue to strike, and funny, talented independents will continue to put out interesting and satirical content like Chad Vader, or God Inc., or this week's edition of YouTube Tuesday.

So for those of you jonesing for more Laguna Beach, here's DouchebagBeach. Enjoy:
