YouTube Tuesday: We watched it and we wept

My Supermodel Wife and I first saw Flight of the Conchords a couple of years ago when they aired their HBO special.

Then a few months ago, I recognized one of the duo, Jemaine, had become the new spokeskiwi for Outback Steakhouse (hey, at least it's a paying gig).

And then, yesterday I saw a link to a performance of their touching hit single Albi the Racist Dragon and it brought back how funny these guys are.

If you're unfamiliar with FOTC, duo comprised of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement (the Outback Steakhouse guy), they are "New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo."

Watch this video and I think you'll agree that description is spot on. It's long for a YouTube presentation (seven and a half minutes), but the payoff at the end is worth it.

YouTube Tuesday supplemental: It's not TV

Well we all know that The Sopranos is winding down on Sunday, and with the death of Tony there will be one less watchable program on the tele.

But, I'm pretty stoked about a new series featuring Flight of the Conchords, New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo.

When we saw the promo a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't wait for the show to air. It turns out, I don't have to. HBO has released the first full episode on their website in advance. Here it is embedded for your entertainment.

Friday Blogthing: The Humans Are Dead

One of the things that takes the sting out of the cultural toilet flush we find ourselves in is the knowledge that before we have a chance to self destruct in an orgy of welfare, entitlements and celebrity worship, we will be destroyed by our own robotic creations.

Of course, they'll keep some of us around to perform basic cleaning and maintenance. I for one welcome our new robotic overlords. Consider this my job application.
